Dreading getting out of bed to go to the gym this summer? We’ve all been there. We all want to get our summer fitness on, but sometimes exercising can be redundant and boring. But exercise doesn’t have to be boring! In fact, involving yourself in fun activities can motivate you to get up and go, rather than drag yourself out of bed. And fear not! There are plenty of ways in the summer to keep yourself looking good and feeling good, but also let you have fun while doing it.
1. Sand Volleyball
Gather up some of your friends to make a team, or even play one-on-one. Sand volleyball is a great way to exercise and have a blast while doing it – and, you might even catch some rays in the meantime! This fun exercise will help you burn 136 calories in just 15 minutes, and give your arms and legs a great workout. The only equipment you’ll need is a ball, but for some good authenticity, or if you’re looking for a real game, you’ll need a volleyball net, as well. Here are some opportunities to get started.
2. Mini Golf
For some low-impact exercise, look no further than a great game of mini-golf. Mini-golf can be a fun solo activity, but it can also be played with the entire family, including the little ones. Find a unique course in your area, and jump into the game! You’ll be having a great time, and also burning 68 calories in just 20 minutes. Considering we are so close to Orlando, there are many to chose from.
3. Stand-up Paddle-board
Interested in being on the water? There are plenty of ways to splash around that don’t require swimming in a straight line. Try taking up stand-up paddle boarding for a unique exercise experience. This might be the best fun activity for those looking to burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time, because 30 minutes out on a paddle board is the equivalent of running six whole miles! Some more options to get you up and paddle boarding.
Another fun activity for the individual, or the entire family, rollerskating can be done either indoors or outdoors. Indoor roller skating may be less difficult, as it doesn’t involve harsh terrain, but it does burn quite a few calories. In 30 minutes, you’ll lose 240 calories as you roll away in the rink, and you won’t even notice the workout your legs are getting because you’re just having too much fun!
Another way to get out on the water, this one will give your arms an incredible workout. Kayaking is a great way to see some nature this coming summer, and your body and muscles will be thanking you for it when you return home. By using those paddles, you’ll burn about 225 calories in just 45 minutes while you’re out there. Get out and kayak!
Exercise doesn’t have to be boring! Anyone can get out there and make working out fun, it just takes the right activity to get on board. With these fun activities you can turn into exercises, you’ll be making a ton of summer memories. Make your summer fitness routine fun and fulfilling, and you won’t want to skip out on any day of exercise.
